I ordered the Grilled Veal: with Cherry Balamsic Sauce, mashed Yukon Gold Potatoes and Vegetable Medley.

Presentation was so-so, but between the Japanese Meal and this Veal, we ended up finishing most of the veal and ate only about half of the Kaiseki meal. We normally would finished most meals on the plane, and sometimes even find coach meals quite tasty and finish those as well.

Since the main course was not satisfying, we both ordrerd Cheese with Crackers: Truffle-flavored Oka, Triple Cream Brie and soft-surface ripened Cheese along with the Ice-cream service. I am normally not a big sweets person, but was glad that this made me forget the main courses
For the belore-landing meal, I wanted to try the Deep-fried cod: with steamed Rice and Vegetable Medley. However, I woke up too late and this choice was no longer available.

I then ordered the Ziti Pasta: with Asiago Sauce and mixed Vegetables.

This was another meal that I barely touch, and was thinking that it is no wonder still available for me to choose.

Alex choose the Grilled Sirloin: with Black Pepper Sauce, Jasmine Rice and Vegetables.

He actually like this, at least he finished most of it and only gave me a piece of the Sirloin to taste. I think it taste better since he was hungry.

The IFE certainly worked well, I did not recall the system needing any reboots during our flight, which is pretty rare on most arlines with AVOD systems installed.
As usual, I set my display to the flight path application and left it there for most of the flight.
This is actually a strange display: we were traveling west, Vancouver to Tokyo, yet this display reversed the direction of travel, showing us going east to Tokyo.
There are a few other flight view options, but I did not find them to be very interesting.
We did not encounter much headwind, and turbulence was minimal, so our flight basically landed on time.

We took a number of flights on Air Canada ExecutiveFirst class, and wrote about it one other time. After so many flights, I think I could conclude:

The herringbone full-flat seat works okay, a bit narrow, but I like it better than the Virgin Atlantic implementation.

Service on board really depends on the crew, just like on most other airlines. Air Canada certainly cannot match most of the Asian carriers, I would give them an overall B for service.

What really falls apart is the quality of the meals, it is probably the worst of any premium class flight that we took in the past few years. After Liz's less than stellar experience on a previous PVG-YVR flight, we went out of our way to give Air Canada another chance on this YVR-NRT flight, and the food quality was just disappointing, I am being generous to give it a C.

Other aspects of our flight were fine:

Priority tagged luggage was handled well, and appeared in the carousel quickly.

The Maple Leaf Lounge in Vancouver was good, and the IFE certainly works smoothly for us.

Overall, we would rate Air Canada a B- primarily due to the poor food quality.
